The Randall Wine Group has finalised the acquisition of Accolade Wines’ vineyard assets in McLaren Vale.

The acquisition includes three vineyards, totalling 155 acres, including the ultra-premium Yeenunga vineyard, perched high above the township of McLaren Vale in the Seaview sub-region.

“Yeenunga is a proven single vineyard site, with ancient contoured plantings of Shiraz and Grenache, highly suitable for our recently acquired Penny’s Hill brand, Warren Randall says.

“The fruit from Yeenunga will now be used to craft artisan volumes of The Piano, Footprint, Skeleton Key and Cracking Black Shiraz, all under the Penny’s Hill brand.

The acquisition also includes approximately 400 megalitres of Willunga Basin Water Company water licence.

“Our wine group is always on the lookout for high quality, well managed assets, with good water infrastructure in South Australia’s premium wine regions,” Randall says.

“Accolade’s McLaren Vale assets presented an excellent opportunity to further strengthen our position as the largest vineyard holder in the McLaren Vale wine district.

“We are very pleased with the acquisition and the quality of the vineyards.

“They are vineyards very capable of producing Icon and A grade wines worth up to $100 per bottle.

“These vineyards do not come up for sale very often. They are rare!

“This acquisition further enhances our flight to quality and premiumisation”.

The Randall Wine Group was established in 1978 and is Australia’s largest private luxury vineyard holder, with the jewel in the crown, the Seppeltsfield Estate in the Barossa and Penny’s Hill Estate in McLaren Vale.
