Andrew Kay has resigned as CEO of Wirra Wirra Vineyards after 15 years in the role.
He will finish up on 10 June to take on the role of CEO at Business SA.
“It’s time to embark on the next phase of my career and head back into the city,” Andrew said.
“It wasn’t an easy decision as I still love what I do, but with the need to consider the back end of my working life and what I want that to look like, and the cumulative effect of a daily two-hour commute – the time is right.
“My lowly performance in the staff footy tipping competition has had nothing to do with it.”
Andrew said he had been considering his future a couple of years ago.
“But when Covid hit it was important that we navigated our way safely through that and now I can exit with confidence that the business is in great shape and that we have an amazing team to take it on to bigger and better things,” he said.
“Harry’s Deli and our direct to consumer business via cellar door are flying, Ashton Hills is rocketing along, our domestic sales are solid and export is taking off in a way we haven’t seen for some years.
“It’s time for me to get out of the way before I become the grumpy old guy who has seen it all before.
“The Wirra Wirra Tribe is an exceptional group of big-hearted, hard-working individuals who come together to create something quite unique and special.
“It has been my great privilege to be a part of that.”
Andrew has another eight weeks in the chair. During that time he will be working with the Board to find a replacement.
