Simon Fennell has rejoined the team at Best’s Wines as winemaker.
He was assistant winemaker at Best’s from 2012 to 2016 and for the past six years has been the winemaker at Montara Wines.
“In 156 years of winemaking history, this is only the seventh time a winemaker has been appointed at Best’s,” managing director Ben Thomson says.
Simon will work closely with the Thomson family and assistant winemaker Jacob Parton and the rest of the team.
“We could not be more thrilled to have Simon rejoin the team,” Ben says.
“His knowledge of our vineyards and winemaking style will be a huge asset to the business.”
Simon says, “I’m thrilled to be rejoining the team here at Best’s as winemaker.
“It’s home to some great vineyards, an amazing pedigree with the wines, but, above all, some great people.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the Thomson family again and being here in Great Western.
“It’s a real privilege.”
Simon grew up in the Coonawarra. He also worked as a craft beer brewer for several years before returning to his first love – wine.
He has a passion for golf and music and of course great wine.
