Samuel Smith & Son is the new national distributor for family winery Sidewood Estate in the Adelaide Hills.
Founded in 2004 by Owen and Cassandra Inglis, Sidewood has won more than 65 trophies and 800 gold medals across local and international competitions since 2015.
Owen Inglis said, “We’ve spent over two decades building Sidewood from a single vineyard into one of the Adelaide Hills’ leading producers, with over 100 hectares under vine across four distinct sites and a winery built to handle the full process from grape to glass.
“Securing strong and consistent national distribution was the next step for us.
“Samuel Smith & Son’s reputation, customer relationships and ability to execute across all Australian markets made them a natural partner.
“We are confident they will represent Sidewood Estate with the care, focus and ambition the brand deserves.”
Ty Menzies, executive director Sales Australia and New Zealand for Samuel Smith & Son said, “Sidewood Estate is an outstanding example of a family-owned Adelaide Hills producer with genuine relevance in today’s market.
“Their track record at both national and international level speaks for itself, and the quality across the portfolio, from the Mappinga, Single Vineyard and Estate ranges, gives us real depth to work with across premium on- and off-premise channels.
“We are excited to work with Owen and the team to build Sidewood Estate’s presence nationally with a long-term, brand-led approach.”
Sidewood Estate manages 110 hectares of premium cool-climate vineyards across four sites – Mappinga (Oakbank), Nairne, Echunga and Charleston – ranging from 380 to 450 metres above sea level.
Wines are made on-site by Dylan Lee and Darryl Catlin and released under the Sidewood Estate, Single Vineyard and Mappinga labels.
Sidewood holds Five Red Star accreditation from James Halliday, was named Best Adelaide Hills Producer over 100 tonnes at the Adelaide Hills Wine Shows in both 2022 and 2023, and is the largest Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certified winery in the region.
The estate’s cellar door, restaurant and cidery are in Hahndorf.
Distribution will commence from Monday 30 March.
