Redman is hosting a dinner to celebrate the first release of Rouge Homme – a 2024 Shiraz Cabernet – under the Redman name since 1965.
It is also 60 years since Redman Wines was established.
Redman bought Rouge Homme back from Treasury Wine Estates in May.
“As well as the opportunity to taste Rouge Homme museum wines from the 1950s to the 1990s, guests will be given first access to purchase wines from this very limited back vintage collection,” Dan Redman said.
“An unmissable chance to add these iconic Australian wines to the cellar, including the 1993 Rouge Homme Richards Red Block, winner of the 1994 Jimmy Watson Trophy along with the iconic 1959 Rouge Homme Claret, the wine that helped put Coonawarra on the Australian wine map following a series of Australian wine show trophy wins.
“With the Rouge Homme label back in family ownership after 60 years, the dinner will be an exceptional opportunity to share stories from the brand’s journey.”
Dan said Rouge Homme has a special place in the heart of Coonawarra.
“Welcoming it back in the 60th year of Redman is especially meaningful – a full-circle moment,” he said.
“We’re often asked about the connection of Rouge Homme with Redman, and now the future is back in our hands. We can’t wait to release a limited edition medium bodied style, a blend like those wines that my grandfather and great grandfather used to make.”
Rouge Homme was first bottled by Owen Redman in 1952 and went on to grow a following in Australia and internationally, renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz blend and clarets.
It was sold by the Redman family in 1965 to Lindeman’s, and Rouge Homme continued to be made and sold, most recently by Treasury Wine Estates.
