Lifting The Lid On Weber Wine

Gibson Wines from the Barossa Valley and Adelaide’s Weber Grill Academy have released a limited-edition bottling called Smokey Oak Shiraz.

The 2020 Shiraz, limited to 500 cases, has been crafted with the assistance of Weber’s grill experts to complement a range of barbecue foods.

The $30 wine can purchased from Gibson’s online store and will also be featured at publicly-ticketed barbecue cooking experiences at the Weber Grill Academy.

The Gibson Smokey Oak Shiraz combines several small parcels of fruit grown in the northern Barossa.

Individual barrels from the 2020 vintage were earmarked for the wine by winemakers Rob Gibson and Adam Fiegert, which showed plush, generous fruit and toasty spice complexity.

The final blend was selected by Weber Grill Academy’s Jacinda Gregg and Adam Mizzi.

“From seared to sizzled, smoked to slow-cooked, barbecue flavours were calling out for a purposefully crafted red wine to complement them,” Jacinda says.

“Gibson’s generous Shiraz style was an obvious choice, and we’re sure grill enthusiasts will agree.”

“We’re not just talking ribeye steaks and smoked lamb shoulders either,” Adam adds. “The Gibson Smokey Oak Shiraz is bright and balanced to pair equally well with something like miso-roasted pumpkin or spiced cauliflower served with labne.”

Gibson have also released a limited bundle – a six-pack of the Smokey Oak Shiraz and a portable Weber Smokey Joe® Charcoal Barbecue, priced at $299.
