Morris of Rutherglen – owned by Casella Family Brands – has completed a multi-million dollar renovation of the iconic cellar door and whisky distillery.
The revitalised space offers visitors an immersive experience of the rich heritage and craftsmanship that defines Morris of Rutherglen.
Nestled in the heart of Victoria’s wine country, Morris of Rutherglen is famous for producing world-renowned fortifieds and premium single-malt whisky.
With over 160 years of experience and six generations of dedication, the Morris family has earned global acclaim for their exquisite fortifieds and recent foray into single malt whisky.
The project transformed the space into a modern and educational space for fine wine and whisky enthusiasts alike.
The redesigned cellar door now boasts state-of-the-art facilities including interactive exhibits detailing the winemaking and distillation processes, a new bar and tasting room and additional landscaping to provide the perfect outdoor environment to enjoy a glass and a view of the vines or for Summer events.
The investment included restoring the original 1930s copper stills and establishing a program for repurposing local wine barrels that are used to age and finish the whisky.

At the heart of the renovation is a refurbishment of the atrium-style cellar door, designed by legendary Australian architect Robin Boyd and initially constructed in 1972.
Offering views of century-old wine barrels, the atrium will be exclusive to guests on tours and those who book a VIP experience.
The multi-million dollar project highlights Morris of Rutherglen’s regional investment and its growing popularity as a tourism destination.
Widely regarded as the unchallenged capital of fortified wines, North-Eastern Victoria’s climate also lends itself to whisky production due to the hot summer days and cool nights.
The region’s lush rolling hills form the banks of what is known as Victoria’s Riverland, fed by Australia’s mighty Snowy Mountains and Murray River.
Guided tours, guided tasting flights of Morris of Rutherglen’s award-winning wines and whisky, and a light food menu will be available in the coming months.
