Purple Hands wins Alternative Varieties Wine Show

Purple Hands has won the Best Wine of Show

Barossa winery Purple Hands has won the Best Wine of Show at the 2024 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show in Mildura.

The winning wine is Purple Hands 2022 After Five Wine Co Montepulciano.

It also won Best Red Wine and Best Red Italian Variety Wine.

Chef Stefano de Pieri and Bruce Chalmers, along with Dr Rod Bonfiglioli, initiated the Sangiovese Awards in 1999.

This continued in 2000 with the Australian Italian Wine Show.

Following the success of these shows, the first Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show was held in Mildura in November 2001.

It is now one of the most dynamic wine shows in Australia.
