Winegrapes Australia has achieved B Corp Certification, adding a whole-of-business benchmark to its existing Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certification. It strengthens its position as a grower-led business focused on responsible production, trusted supply and long-term regional resilience.
It is only the fourth Australian wine business to obtain certification.
Winegrapes Australia is a South Australian producer-cooperative representing the interests of growers, their communities and the environment.
Working across 12 renowned wine regions, Winegrapes Australia connects a network of more than 85 member growers with winemakers, brands and buyers seeking quality grapes, trusted supply and authentic regional provenance, and produces bottled wines under its own brand, Land of Tomorrow.
Winegrapes Australia achieved an overall B Impact Score of 96.7, well above the 80-point threshold required for certification.
The score follows a rigorous assessment and independent verification process conducted by B Lab, which examines every aspect of a business – from governance, environmental management and community impact to employee practices, customer stewardship and transparency.
“Achieving a verified B Impact Score of 96.7 demonstrates that our commitment to sustainability extends well beyond the vineyard,” general manager Paula Newman said.
“It reflects the strength of our governance, the way we support our growers and regional communities, and our commitment to operating transparently and responsibly across the entire business.
“It builds on our Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certification and gives us another benchmark for continual improvement.
“The wine sector is being asked to provide clearer evidence of responsible production, regional value and environmental stewardship.
“This certification helps us communicate that work to growers, winemakers, buyers and customers in a way that is independently assessed and comparable across sectors.”

Certification requires companies to provide detailed evidence to substantiate their responses, undergo a comprehensive review by B Lab analysts, and meet strict accountability requirements, including embedding stakeholder considerations into corporate governance.
Certified B Corporations are also required to recertify every three years, demonstrating continuous improvement against evolving standards.
For Winegrapes Australia, the assessment provides an independent benchmark of how the organisation creates value for growers, partners, employees, customers and regional communities, reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices that extend well beyond environmental sustainability.
For wine industry audiences, the certification is significant because it links vineyard-level sustainability practice with broader business accountability.
Sustainable Winegrowing Australia provides an industry-specific framework for grapegrowers and winemakers to improve environmental, social and economic performance, while B Corp Certification assesses how a business governs itself and creates value for workers, customers, communities and the environment.
Together, the certifications give growers, winemakers, brand partners and buyers a stronger signal of Winegrapes Australia’s approach to responsible sourcing: practical improvement in the vineyard, transparent business practices across the organisation, and a commitment to measurable progress over time.
Winegrapes Australia also acknowledges other Australian wine and wine-adjacent businesses that have helped build momentum for B Corp Certification across the sector, including Australian Vintage Ltd, Unico Zelo, Minimum Wines and MaCher Australia.
Their leadership points to increasing interest across wine production, viticulture, packaging and supply chains in verified approaches to sustainability and responsible business.
B Corp Certification is administered by B Lab, a non-profit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet. Certified B Corporations are independently verified to meet standards across areas including governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
There are now more than 800 Certified B Corporations across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, and more than 10,900 globally.
