Winemaker Benjamin Pigram from See Saw Wines in Orange is running the Ultra-Kosciuszko 100-Mile Race in the Snowy Mountains to raise money for Parkinson’s Disease research.
He is doing it in honour of his mother, Kim, and a close friend, Sarah.
“They are both living with Parkinson’s Disease and were diagnosed at a very young age,” Benjamin says.
Kim and Sarah have both had the deep brain stimulation treatment, technology that would not have been possible without donations to research organisations like Shake It Up Australia.
Benjamin has received solid support from the wine industry and the broader community.
“I would like to give an immense and heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to Shake it Up Australia so far, and for sharing with me their own family’s experience of Parkinson’s Disease,” Benjamin says.
“Thanks heaps for running the fundraiser in TWTW a little while ago for me.
“We had a few great donations come in, which was amazing.”

He describes it as “an epic adventure”.
“If everything goes according to the plan, it should take me 32 hours to complete,” he says.
Is Benjamin fit and raring to go?
“I’m feeling pretty good about it, but could always have done a bit more training!”
