Attention Yarra Valley and Margaret River winemakers! If you can’t make it to the Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference in July, here’s some good news – Lallemand and Winequip are coming to you.
Lallemand and Winequip – which have entered into an exciting new distribution agreement – are hosting the internationally-renowned ML School (Lallemand Malolactic Fermentation Education) in the Yarra Valley on 1 August, and in Margaret River on 3 August.
The ML School is a specialised one-day training program where winemakers, oenologists and researchers exchange information and experience on MLF.
“The technical and practical workshops and tasting sessions demonstrate the importance of good management of MLF and how selected wine lactic acid bacteria can impact wine quality,” says Jason Amos, managing director of Lallemand Australia.
Hosted by Jason Amos; Rob Gore, general manager of Winequip; and Amanda Kramer of Winequip WA, the workshops will feature international experts in their field – Prof Maret du Toit, Professor in Oenology at Stellenbosch University, Institute for Wine Biotechnology in South Africa; Dr Eveline Bartowsky, senior research scientist at the AWRI; and Dr Sibylle Krieger-Weber, Lallemand R&D bacteria manager from Germany.
Lallemand has hosted international ML schools in France since 2011, with the participation of 400 winemakers and wine experts from almost all wine-producing countries. It has also conducted regular national ML school sessions in Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Switzerland, USA, Japan and countries of Eastern Europe, South America, and South Africa.
All up, more than 1,800 winemakers have been involved. Now it’s Australia’s turn.
