In one of the biggest boilovers seen at an Australian wine show in recent years, a $6 wine has won a trophy at the 2025 Royal Adelaide Wine Show.

Dee Vine Estate 2025 The Drover Riverina Pinot Grigio won Best Pinot Gris/Grigio.

The wine – from a vineyard in Griffith – is available from Dee Vine’s website for $8 a bottle.

However, sales director Jamie Cirillo tells WBM the wine actually retails for $6.

Many bottles of Australian Pinot Gris/Grigio retail for five or six times that price.

“Amazing result for a Riverina wine at that price point winning such a prestigious award,” he says.

The Drover Pinot Grigio has won bronze medals this year at the Sydney Royal Wine Show (85 points), the Rutherglen Wine Show and the Riverina GI.

“A mild spring and good growth of the canopy protected the fruit from the hot summer this season, producing rich ripe fruit this vintage,” the tasting note says.

“Sophisticated and uplifting, this Pinot Grigio is a lively fusion of lime, pear and green apple, with a delightfully clean, crisp finished.

“Serve chilled and enjoy with seafood or soft cheese.”

Dee Vine Estate was founded in 1930 by the Rossetto family.
