The Lane Vineyard in Hahndorf has announced plans to build 20 new luxury villas and a wellness centre.
“It is destined to encourage visitors to linger longer and stay overnight in a region that has traditionally hosted day travellers,” CEO Jared Stringer says.
The South Australian developer of the project, Luxury Lodge Group, says Hahndorf is one of the most popular day-trip destinations in the state and the intention is to capture a highly motivated traveller and have them spend more time in the region.
Project spokesperson and director of Hotellerie consultancy Sonia Lefevre says, “Working closely with the innovative and passionate team at The Lane to design a holistic extension of their current high-end offering has been integral to our process.
“We are thrilled to be bringing this landmark luxury accommodation and wellness destination to one of the most stunning wine regions in the world.”
The villas have been designed to nestle within the south-western corner of the site, three kilometres from Hahndorf.
Development designer and director of Intro Architecture Damien Ellis says, “Sustainability has been a key driver since the project’s inception.
“The objective of the construction methodology and servicing and operation of the development is to deliver a luxurious accommodation experience which is enhanced through the adoption of contemporary environmentally sustainable design.”
Jared Stringer says, “The Lane has been the iconic Adelaide Hills destination for those seeking the ultimate in winery experiences for almost two decades.
“We could think of nothing better to complement our bespoke offering than providing our guests the ultimate in luxury accommodation, right here, in the heart of our Hahndorf estate.”
According to the Adventure Travel Trade Association, nature-based tourism is forecast to become a $1.3 trillion global tourism segment by 2023.
Capitalising on this consumer sentiment, The Lane Lodge will offer transformative accommodation with a deeper connection to land, community and improvement of the mind.
Guests staying at the Lane Lodge will be offered an array of unique experiences including bushwalking, winemaker masterclasses, wine blending, cooking classes, trout fishing and helicopter tours.
The day spa will be designed and operated by a world class operator showcasing the latest holistic experiences founded on specialised rituals and curated treatment plans to seamlessly restore mind and body.
South Australian Tourism Commission chief executive Rodney Harrex says, “We know there is a need for more accommodation in the Hills which entices day-trippers to stay longer and explore more of the region.
“The plans to include wellness experiences are perfectly placed to leverage the Adelaide Hills’ position as the wellness destination of South Australia – and a sector that is currently worth $12 billion in Australia and is set to grow more than 20 percent by 2025.”
