South Australian winemaker Greg Clack has released a range of small-batch wines under the new Aptitude label.

They include Kenton Valley 2024 Chardonnay (Adelaide Hills), Kuitpo 2024 Pinot Noir (Adelaide Hills), Kuitpo 2024 Barbera, Woodside 2024 Gamay (Adelaide Hills), Blewitt Springs 2025 Grenache Rosé, Connubio 2024 Dolcetto Sangiovese and Contact Theory 2024 Riesling Cortese.

The wines are available in limited quantities and range from $35 for the Riesling to $48 for the Kenton Valley Chardonnay and Kuitpo Pinot Noir.

“Aptitude is about recognising and harnessing the inherent potential of a site,” Greg says.

“It’s the synergy between the land’s character and the winemaker’s instinct.

“Each wine is produced in micro-parcels from carefully selected vineyard blocks, vinified with minimal intervention to express both varietal character and regional nuance.”

Greg has been the chief winemaker of Chain of Ponds in the Hills since 2007.

He is also the winemaker/director of XO Wine Co, a small brand he established with partner Kate Horstmann in 2017.

Greg was a Len Evans Tutorial Scholar in 2024 and is treasurer of the Adelaide Hills Wine Region.

Aptitude wines are available online or through select independent retailers.
