Barossa auction a wine collector’s dream

The Barossa Wine Auction and long lunch will be held in the Old Redemption Cellars at Peter Lehmann Wines in Tanunda on Friday 4 April.

Thirty-three lots are up for grabs including eight magnums, four imperials and a salmanazar.

The auction, supported by Langtons, will include a 2010-2021 vertical of Rockford Basket Press in a wooden display case, a 48-bottle set of Eden Valley Riesling and a 36-bottle set of Barossa Grenache.

Other highlights include:

• 100 Year Old Para 1925 Vintage Tawny (375ml) with Lalique Decanter.

• 10 bottles of Henschke Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone Single Vineyard Shiraz – 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

• Imperial of Yalumba The Octavius Old Vine Shiraz 2018 and Yalumba Icons Experience.

• Jeroboam of Kaesler Wines 2017 Old Bastard Shiraz.

• 3 magnum set of Poonawatta The 1880 Eden Valley Shiraz – 2015, 2018 and 2021.

The auction, which has been going since 1965, supports of the Barossa Australia Well-Being Fund, which provides mental health training and support to the local community.

It is held as part of the Barossa Vintage Festival which has been running since 1947.

The 2021 and 2023 auctions saw record-breaking sales.

A Sydney live auction will also be held on Tuesday 10 June.
