Fourth Wave Wine has launched Mullet Wines – “Australia’s first specialist hard wine brand”.
Alcohol levels in the Mullet range have not been given a hair cut.
Hard Shiraz is 17 percent alcohol and Hard Pinot is 15 percent.
Billed as “a rebellious expression of culture”, the wines defy all the talk about wine and health – and low- and no-alcohol drinks.
“Hand-crafted, purpose-built and unapologetically fun, the brand caters for those who appreciate the arts, music and style and are seeking out bolder tastes,” says the marketing spiel.
The catchphrase is business at the front, party at the back.
Mullet Wines are presented in vibrant, irreverent and colourful labels which would appeal to a younger audience.
“Mullet wines deliver bolder ripe fruit flavours up front with a bigger body and mouthfeel driving a big, long finish,” Fourth Wave says.
“Or like any great mullet, it’s business at the front, party at the back.
“Hand-crafted and purpose built, these are wines doing all they can to be big on flavour and big on drinkability.
“Mullet wines… putting good times and enjoyment above all else!”
The range also includes a Chardonnay (15 percent), a Hard Cab Sav (16 percent), a Hard Gris (15 percent), a Hard Moscato (13.5 percent) and a Hard Sparkly (15 percent).
The Hard Shiraz is also available in a 1.5 litre pouch.
The wines are made by Corey Ryan and sourced from various sites in South Australia and Victoria.
The wines retail for $13.99 and are available from Dan Murphy’s and independent retailers nationally.
