Endeavour Group to close wine bottling line

By Wednesday 26 February 2025No Comments

Endeavour Group is closing the Prowine bottling and packaging facility near Gawler in South Australia.

The company says it will consolidate its bottling operations at its two other sites – branded Vinpac – in Angaston and McLaren Vale.

“Following a review of our bottling capacity at our South Australian facilities, we have made a decision to close our Prowine facility in Gawler in March 2025, and we are working through a consultation period with impacted team members,” said Lizzy Bold, head of external communications at Endeavour Group.

“Our priority is supporting our team in the lead up to the site’s closure and identifying other employment opportunities that may exist across Endeavour Group’s network.

“Since Pinnacle Drinks acquired Prowine in 2018, their team and two-line facility have played a vital role in supporting our production, particularly during peak periods when Angaston and McLaren Vale were at capacity, helping meet growing business demand.

“However, given the decline in domestic consumption and the changing export market impacting overall demand, we can no longer  maintain all three production sites.”

“We will be working with customers to transition their volume to our other bottling facilities at Angaston and McLaren Vale where we have capacity and capability, and we will be supporting other impacted wineries to transition their volumes to other co-packers in the region.

“We will also work with customers over the coming weeks and months to ensure appropriate transition arrangements are in place, and to minimise any impact to their production schedules.”

About thirty staff will be affected by the closure.

Endeavour, which also owns Dan Murphy’s BWS and ALH Hotels – bought the Prowine business in 2018.
