The Grenache Room opens in McLaren Vale

Boutique winery Willunga 100 has opened The Grenache Room, a new tasting destination showcasing the diverse expressions of Grenache grown on sites in Blewitt Springs and Clarendon in McLaren Vale.

Located on Moritz Road in Blewitt Springs, The Grenache Room offers visitors the opportunity to taste Willunga 100’s award-winning Grenache wines in a century-old house situated on the Blind Spot vineyard.

Blewitt Springs has long been recognised as the source of much of McLaren Vale’s finest Grenache.

The tasting room is in the restored original Moritz family stone cottage built in about 1920.

“The Grenache Room offers wine lovers and visitors the chance to learn more about Grenache,” owner David Gleave says.

“The flights include single-vineyard selections, limited releases and tasting room exclusives, each made with a commitment to sustainability and a strong sense of place.”

This sustainability is underlined by a hectare of native vegetation planted beside the tasting room.

Visitors will be able to taste a Grenache Blanc and Grenache Rose from 2024, the Estate Grenache from 2023 and the trophy-winning Smart Vineyard Grenache, which won Best Grenache at the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards last year.

For a limited time there will also be some library stock of the 2021 Smart Grenache, which won the Grenache Trophy at the National Wine Show in Canberra in 2023.

Specialising in McLaren Vale Grenache since 2004, Willunga 100 celebrates a legacy of innovation, respect for site and a commitment to sustainable winemaking practices.
