Leading UK wine writer Matthew Jukes has published his biggest-ever 100 Best Australian Wines Report – with more than 320 wines mentioned.

The report is published for members of matthewjukes.com.

Printed copies will also be available at the largest nationwide festival tour Matthew has done in his 22 years of writing the report.

“This weekend at Tate Modern in London, I will pour a selection of 51 wines taken from this Report for 600 tasters, and a further 120 are attending an Aussie dinner where I open the past vintages for 100 Best wines,” Matthew tells WBM.

“Who says Aussie wine is not popular in the UK?

“Not me, as I have been shouting ‘til I am blue in the face.

“And as I wrote in your magazine last year.”

The 100 Best Australian Wines include Pizzini 2024 King Valley Lambrusco Salamino, Forest Hill Vineyard 2024 Mount Barker Estate Riesling, Wickhams Road 2024 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir and Parker Estate 2021 Coonawarra First Growth Cabernet Sauvignon.

The High Commissioner, Deputy HC, Austrade VIPs and a host of national journalists including features writers will be at the London event.

The tour will then move on to Edinburgh where two sessions are almost sold out. In previous years there has been only one session.

“Then our first forays to York and Manchester and to a sold-out event in Birmingham in the largest hotel event space in the city,” Matthew says.

“Twenty-five elite Scottish sommeliers (the largest gathering to date) will attend my ‘Somm Lunch’ (an all-day bonanza) in Edinburgh, and thirty-odd on-trade buyers, sommeliers and experts will come to the epic event in London.”

Matthew has a message for Australia: “I hope this puts a spring in your step.”

Last year he wrote in WBM – Australia’s Wine Business Magazine, “Nothing gives me more pleasure and pride than organising massive high-end, high-energy events accompanied by in-depth literature and detailed instructions on where to buy my favourite Australian wines.

“The UK consumers lap it up, and it’s only the wine trade that has yet to realise that Australian fine wine is a thrilling category that stands shoulder to shoulder with every other country’s finest creations.”
