Two vineyards have been damaged in the Tooperang bushfire burning near Mount Compass on the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula since Sunday.
The vineyards are on Nangkita Road at Nangkita.
One vineyard has had about 25 acres of vines burned.
The entire 2026 vintage has been lost.
The other vineyard – which is mothballed – has had 10 acres burned.
The vineyards were close to the ignition points of the fire, believed to have been started by a truck.
WBM – Australia’s Wine Business Magazine is seeking comment from the grower.
The fire has burned more than 650 hectares of grass and scrub and destroyed at least three structures.
The fire follows the Central Victorian bushfires which claimed several vineyards and including 300 acres at Fowles Wine.
That fire destroyed the Harcourt Cooperative Cool Stores, where many small wine producers had about 500,000 bottles of wine stored.
Temperatures are rising again with South Australia and Victoria expecting high temperatures over the Australia Day long weekend.
It is forecast to be 41 degrees on Saturday in Adelaide and 39 in Melbourne.
