WA sparkling wine celebrates historic wine

A Western Australian winery has won Best Sparkling Rosé in Australia at the 2025 Australian Sparkling Wine Show for the first time.

The category – usually dominated by Tasmania – was won by Howard Park Jeté Rosé NV ($50).

Heemskerk 2015 Chardonnay Pinot Noir Sparkling won Best Wine of Show.

Howard Park chief winemaker Nic Bowen said winning Best Sparkling Rosé was a wonderful validation for the entire team.

“We are constantly working to refine our craft in the winery and vineyards, listening to the fruit and evolving our sparkling range to give each wine in the Jeté collection its own distinct personality,” he said.

“We’ve always believed the Great Southern could produce world-class sparkling, and this trophy proves it.

“We are particularly thrilled to win the Sparkling Rosé category.

“There is an increasing buzz around sparkling rosé, and deservedly so.

“These are wines that offer not just complexity, but a playful, whimsical character that is incredibly exciting to make and to drink.”

The Australian Sparkling Wine Show attracted 209 entrants from across the country, all assessed over the course of two and a half days by a respected panel of industry experts, including leading winemakers, sommeliers and wine critics.

Howard Park Jeté Rosé NV scored 95 points.

The wine is a méthode traditionnelle sparkling crafted from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, sourced from Howard Park’s Mount Barker vineyard in the Great Southern.

This wine is based on the 2021 vintage, tiraged in December 2021 and spent a minimum of 31 months on lees to build its signature complexity and texture.

This latest success follows a list of honours for the entire Jeté collection including:

2019 Grand Jeté – Trophy for Best Sparkling at the 2025 West Australian Wine Show.

Jeté Rosé NV – Gold Medal at the 2025 National Wine Show in Canberra.

Jeté Premier Brut NV – Gold Medal at the 2025 Perth Royal Wine Show.

Petit Jeté NV – Gold Medal at the 2025 Australian Sparkling Wine Show in Tasmania.

With a family history in classical ballet, the Jete collection is named after the signature ballet movement of jeté – to leap.

The immense dedication, patience, and control of this movement creates an illusion of weightless grace – a philosophy that mirrors the winemaking team’s approach to this sparkling range.
