Chapel Hill chief winemaker Michael Fragos has left the business, Endeavour Group confirmed today.
The news comes just a few days after the departure of Oakridge Wines chief winemaker David Bicknell.
Both Chapel Hill and Oakridge are considered among Australia’s finest wineries.
Michael had been with Chapel Hill for 22 years and won numerous trophies.
“Michael Fragos has made a valuable contribution to Chapel Hill,” an Endeavour Group spokesperson said.
“Endeavour Group thanks Michael for his service and dedication.”
He has won the McLaren Vale Bushing Monarch three times – in 1997, 1999 and 2010.
Endeavour Group announced recently that it was selling Oakridge in the Yarra Valley including the winery, cellar door, brand and vineyards.
It is also selling the Chapel Hill winery, cellar door and vineyards in McLaren Vale, but keeping the brand.
The Chapel Hill winery and cellar door closed at the end of June with winemaking transferred to Dorrien Estate in the Barossa Valley.
Oakridge is being sold through Colliers, and the Chapel Hill assets through Elders.
Endeavour Group owns Dan Murphy’s and BWS and a host of pubs and liquor stores.
