Mergers and Acquisitions: Australian Winery Ownership Changes, 1961-2026

The Wolf Blass Foundation has produced this historical record of sales, mergers and takeovers in the Australian wine industry from 1990 to 2026. The record is a continuation of a 1961 to 1990 sales, mergers and takeover article produced by Adelaide wine writer Tony Baker, which appeared in a Wolf Blass book in 1990. This completed 1961 to 2026 document is an interesting and compelling record of the evolution and transition of the Australian wine industry over the past 66 years and could be viewed as quite pertinent to current industry issues. “The Wolf Blass Foundation has funded and produced this record as a service to the industry for its historical interest,” says Wolf Blass AM BVK. “The Wolf Blass Foundation is delighted that Anthony Madigan and his publication, WBM – Australia’s Wine Business Magazine is exclusively releasing this historical record on behalf of the Foundation.” Our thanks to Peter Perrin for putting this information together. While every care has been taken in the preparation of this document, we would welcome feedback and further information.
