Mr. Riggs steps up for cancer research

Mr. Riggs from McLaren Vale is running its annual Gaffer Month campaign throughout August.

Proceeds from The Gaffer Shiraz – the one with the bright pink cap – will be donated to The Flinders Foundation.

Established in 1976, The Flinders Foundation is one of Australia’s leading medical health and research charities, raising essential funds to support cancer research and patient care.

The Mr. Riggs initiative is now in its seventeenth year.

Founder Ben Riggs says, “We are incredibly proud to have raised over $200,000, which has gone towards a broad range of cancer research.

“We are grateful for our customers’ support in achieving this milestone.

“This cause is very close to our hearts, and The Flinders Foundation is a worthy recipient of our donation.”

Ross Verschoor, executive director of the Flinders Foundation, says, “This wonderful partnership started more than 17 years ago.

“Not only do Mr. Riggs support the annual Gala Dinner, the Pink Yellow Blue Ball, but they also host Gaffer Month, which is an important month to raise funds for cancer research.

“The Flinders Foundation’s work is often led by the stories we share about people, and the partnership between Mr. Riggs and the Flinders Foundation started with a story about a person affected by cancer, and through this partnership, we are honouring that legacy.”

Throughout August, distributors will benefit from some hot Mr. Riggs offers.

In addition to The Gaffer Shiraz, the 2022 Woodside Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc and 2022 Watervale Riesling are also available for reduced wholesale purchase, with proceeds donated to The Flinders Foundation.

The Gaffer Shiraz was initially released to acknowledge 150 years of the Riggs family’s rich farming heritage in South Australia.

“Lifted and aromatic on the nose with rich red fruits and herbal undertones, The Gaffer is a medium-weight Shiraz that is soft, flavoursome, and fruit driven,” Ben says.
