Rob Mann has joined Swinney Wines as senior winemaker.

He comes to the role with a history of success as a winemaker, having previously held the role of senior winemaker at Hardy’s Tintara, Cape Mentelle and most recently at LVMH’s Newton Vineyard in the Napa Valley.

During his 10 years at Cape Mentelle, the winery was twice awarded Producer of the Year, and Rob Mann Winemaker of the Year. Most recently Rob has been working with his winemaking wife Genevieve on developing their Corymbia label.

The Swinney family has been farming in the Frankland River region in Western Australia since 1922 and are one of the leading grapegrowers in Western Australia, supplying fruit to many of the State’s premium wine producers as well as using select parcels for their own eponymous family wine label.

Matt Swinney says: “We are delighted to have Rob join our team as senior winemaker. Rob shares our Vision for where we want to take our wines and brand over the next 10 years and we are excited to have him join us. We expect that with his skills and international experience he will make a major contribution to the projects we are developing.”

Rob Mann says: “I am very keen to collaborate on a project that is based upon great vineyards with potential to make distinguished regional wines that will rank among the country’s greatest. With the Swinney family I believe I have found a kindred spirit and an exceptional fruit resource and look forward to what we can achieve as a team.”

Joining Swinney will see Rob reunited with ex-Tintara colleague Peter Dawson, previously chief winemaker of BRL Hardy/Constellation for 15 years, and now chairman of the Swinney Vineyards, and working with viticulturist Lee Haselgrove.
