The Rosemount cellar door in McLaren Vale will close at the end of the month. This follows the Rosemount winery closing last year and the winemaking transferred to the Wolf Blass operation in the Barossa.

“Following an extensive review of our Rosemount cellar door operation, a difficult but necessary decision has been made to close the venue at the end of June 2016,” Treasury Wine Estates said in an email to stakeholders.

“It is important you understand the reason behind this decision. The cellar door building requires significant capital expenditure to upgrade its plumbing and kitchen facilities in order to make it commercially viable, and equipped to offer the kind of quality experience visitors expect when in McLaren Vale. Unfortunately the level of expenditure cannot be justified from a financial perspective.

“Rest assured, Rosemount remains a key brand for TWE, it is well-established globally and widely available in retail and online sales outlets. TWE will continue to support Rosemount, and the recently launched Rosemount Meal Matchers range, is part of a step-up in consumer marketing. Given the growing focus of the brand on food and wine pairing, it is difficult to bring this message to life with the limited facilities available at the Rosemount cellar door.

“No permanent roles will be impacted by this decision, however there are four casual cellar door roles affected.”
