Seppeltsfield has released the 1925 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny – coinciding with the day the Seppelt family moved into the homestead in 1851.

One of Australia’s most significant wines, the Old Para comes in a 100ml bottle presented in a gift box is $1,800.

Andrew Caillard MW from The Vintage Journal and Nick Ryan from The Australian have both awarded the wine the perfect score of 100 points.

“The transcendent 1925 Seppeltsfield 100-Year-Old Para Vintage Tawny is a living wonder of the wine world and a rare ethereal experience for those who have the luck to taste it,” Caillard wrote.

Chief winemaker Fiona Donald said, “As custodians of the Seppeltsfield Centennial Collection, we are proud of the amazing legacy and vision of Benno Oscar Seppelt, son of our founders Joseph and Johanna Seppelt, dating back to 1878.

“The 1925 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny is the 48th consecutive release from the Centennial Cellar.

“The wine shows a deep mahogany colour with a vibrant amber edge.

“Immediately luscious, with incredible volume and mouthfeel, lingering flavours of bittersweet dark chocolate and hazelnuts.

“The freshness and length is driven by blood orange acidity.”

The wine is available from Seppeltsfield Cellar Door or via Centennial Collection.

Seppeltsfield has long been internationally renowned for its treasure trove of fortifieds highlighted by the Centennial Collection – the world’s only unbroken lineage of single vintage tawny dating back to 1878.

The Seppeltsfield 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny is the inaugural wine inducted into the James Halliday Hall of Fame.

Each bottle is individually numbered and authenticated for collection purposes, with signatures from both the Seppeltsfield executive chairman and proprietor, Warren Randall, and the great, great grandson of Joseph and Johanna Seppelt, Bill Seppelt.

It is presented in a black wooden gift box, along with a certificate that can be personalised with your message accordingly.

There is also a QR code to link you directly to the tasting note.
