It is appropriate that the Barossa Valley, so well known for the quality of its wines, should be rich in historical associations. Winemaking is one of mankind’s oldest crafts, and the mellow atmosphere of the winemaker’s skill enriches the history of the Valley. The Barossa wine industry began almost by chance, when George Fife Angas came into unexpected possession of thousands of acres and offered then to refugees from German religious persecution.
