Time to put the feet up for Adelaide Hills winery owners

Judy and Glen Kelly don’t sugarcoat the reason for putting their beloved ArtWine property in the Adelaide Hills on the market.

“After all these years, sadly we are no longer as young as we would like to be and would like to retire,” she says.

Judy and Glen Kelly established the Artwine brand in 2008.

“With a deep love for Mediterranean wines, we’ve kept the focus of our family-run winery firmly on these delicious and expressive food-friendly wine styles right from the very start,” Judy says.

“Now, many years after planting our first vines, we’re proud to say we have been both pioneers and early adopters in the production of new-emerging varieties.

“They have been carefully researched and selected to be climatically appropriate for planting in our vineyards at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills and at Springfarm in the Clare Valley.

“It’s time to pass on the reins of what we consider the future of wine in Australia to someone who can take Artwine to higher realms.

“To promote more strongly these wonderful varieties that are Australian made, allowing consumers to support the local wine industry and not rely on imported wines to satisfy the growing European tastes in wines and food.”

ArtWine produces 17 varieties including old bushvine grenache planted in 1932.

The Cabernet Franc and Riesling vines in Clare are 35 years old and 45 years old respectively.

The sale includes an architecturally designed cellar door and home on Bird in Hand Road at Woodside.

Judy says the trophy haul has been a highlight of their time in the wine industry.

“During our wonderful years at the helm, we have had huge success with our wines,” she says.

“We have amassed 44 trophies (two this week alone with our two brand new releases of Arneis and Falanghina ) along with hundreds of medals and accolades.

“The strength of our business has been our sole focus on new-emerging wines and using the best resources to produce the best quality wines that are true to their origins as possible taking into consideration our viticulture and viniculture differences.”

ArtWine is being sold through Colliers.
