A GoFundMe has been set up for Steve Morris – a prominent figure in the printing and wine label industry who has been battling stage four stomach cancer.
At the time of writing the fund had raised $172,112 of the target of $500,000.
Last Sunday Steve – Sydney Site GM of MCC Labels – left hospital to return to palliative care to be with his wife Sam and their three boys Covey (3), Reeve (10) and Ollie (12).
Steve has spent more than 20 years in print, starting at Graphitype Printing Services in 2005 before moving to CCL Label where he worked for more than 10 years including nine years in the Wine & Spirits division, rising from plant manager to general manager of the Sydney site and then national sales manager.
In 2024 Steve joined MCC Label as plant manager of the Sydney site.
“The wine industry has been a big part of his working life,” work colleague Amy Todd says.
“His passion for the craft has never dimmed, and so much of his career has been devoted to wine and spirits labels.
“Through that work he built a genuine love of the Australian wine industry – not just as a supplier, but as someone who showed up.”
Steve was a familiar face at wine industry events like the Hunter Valley Wine Show and was there in 2025 when MCC was named Printer of the Year at the National Print Awards.
“A moment of real pride for him and the Sydney team he leads,” Amy says.
She describes Steve as one of the most positive, kind people you could hope to meet.
“To everyone in our industry who has crossed paths with Steve over the years – and there are so many of you – this is a chance to show him the impact he’s had,” Amy says
“Steve, if you see this: the respect and love for you across this industry runs deep.
“We’ve got Sam and the boys.”
Steve’s sister-in-law Cassie Anderson told the Daily Telegraph: “Coming home means everything.
“It means being without all the cords and machines, being in their home, with their boys, just soaking in those final moments.
“He’s such an amazing person.”
Cassie says the outpouring of support for the family has been “incredible”.
“If love could cure him, he wouldn’t be in this position.”
