Highly decorated winemaker Louisa Rose has been awarded the prestigious Degree of Doctor of the University (honoris causa) by the University of Adelaide.
The honour was presented in recognition of Louise’s outstanding contributions to winemaking as a global innovator and advocate for sustainability, and her significant service to the university.
The award was conferred by Chancellor Catherine Branson AC SC, along with Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Peter Høj AC, during a formal graduation ceremony.
Louisa thanked the university for the honour.
“I am humbled to be considered in the same light as others who have received this honour before me and I will endeavour to continue to make the university proud,” she said.
Louisa – winemaker and head of sustainability at Hill-Smith Family Estates – was also invited to deliver the graduation address.
She highlighted the important role they will play in shaping the future.
“Remember that learning is very powerful,” she said.
“Don’t be afraid of failure.
“It is not what you don’t know.
“It is how you learn what you don’t know that will be the key to your success.”
