Vale Colin Campbell OAM

The Australian wine industry is mourning the death of Colin Campbell OAM.

Colin died on Friday after a battle with cancer.

Wine Australia chair Brian Walsh said, “The Australian grape and wine community has lost a tireless leader, contributor, advocate and friend with the death of Colin Campbell OAM.

“The entire Australian grape and wine sector – and especially his precious Rutherglen region – is the richer for Col’s years of selfless commitment and service and his unstinting support for wine, tourism and regional communities.

“On behalf of the Board and staff at Wine Australia, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Colin’s family.”

Sandy Clark, chairman of Australian Grape & Wine said, “Our industry has lost a great friend and a true champion. Col’s passionate commitment, his enquiring mind and his ability to engage with everyone including parliamentarians in Canberra, a task he enjoyed immensely, were invaluable qualities that made him so special.

“Col was a very talented, warm-hearted man and his contribution to the Australian wine industry has been immense. Our thoughts, and heartfelt sympathy are with his wife Prue, children Jane, Susie and Julie, and all the Campbell family.”

Colin’s funeral will be held at Campbell’s Wines on Friday.
