Wine industry joins new government Trade Network

Australian Grape & Wine is part of the new Trade Diversification Network (TDN) established by the Federal Government to support Australian exporters to diversify and grow into new markets.

It is one of 40 national peak bodies across a broad range of Australian industries selected to join the TDN as part of the $50 million Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI).

The Network will work with Government to identify and develop tailored activities such as trade missions, training and showcases to facilitate export diversification, enabling businesses to target and take advantage of emerging opportunities around the world.

Trade Minister Don Farrell said, “Australia is a trading nation and we want to see more Australian exporters doing more trade with new and emerging partners across the globe in places like the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

“The Trade Diversification Network is a great example of government and industry working together to achieve a common goal: seeing Australian businesses diversify, grow and build resilience.

“With one in four Australian jobs connected to trade, by helping our exporters we are securing jobs, building communities, and benefiting the Australian economy.”

Australian Grape & Wine chief executive Lee McLean said, “Being part of the Trade Diversification Network will allow us to work closely with Government to ensure export support is targeted, practical and aligned with real market opportunities for wine producers across Australia’s regions.

“Wine supports thousands of regional jobs and communities, and access to new and emerging markets will be critical to rebuilding export value and resilience.

“We look forward to working with the Government and fellow peak bodies through the Network to help more wine businesses export to more markets.”

Thirty-two percent of Australia’s economic output is supported by trade, and businesses who export are on average more productive, employ more people, and pay higher wages.

Other members of the Network include Australian Meat Industry Council, Seafood Industry Australia, Australan Fashion Council, Australian Sports Technologies Network and the Space Industry Association of Australia.
