Seppeltsfield is beginning to place a higher value on its 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny with 100ml of the 1922 vintage released today for $1,500.

Last year’s release of the 1921 vintage was $700 for 100ml and $2,000 for 375ml – so it has more than doubled in price in 12 months.

It is, after all, 100 years old. And there’s only so much of it.

You can taste 10ml of the 1922 Old Para at cellar door for $90.

Seppeltsfield is no longer producing it in 375ml formats.

This is the 45th consecutive 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny to be released from the 1878 Centennial Cellar.

It continues the lineage of releases first conceived by Oscar Benno Seppelt in 1878.

Chief winemaker Fiona Donald’s tasting note says: “Great intensity harnessed by citrusy acid and notes of sun dried stone fruit – nutty, spicy, with terrific length.

“A more savoury expression with focused lift and intensity of spicy walnut liqueur – woody, toasty, some herbal notes too.”

The 1922 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny is hand filled to order, individually numbered and authenticated for collection purposes.

It is presented in a jarrah timber gift box with a certificate that can be personalised accordingly.

The current pricing of both the 1920 and 1921 vintages is now $1,500.

The Old Para is rated ‘Exceptional’ in Langton‘s Classification of Australian Wine.

You can buy it at Seppeltsfield.
