High five for Bremerton Wines

Bremerton Wines scooped the pool at the Langhorne Creek Wine Show, winning five trophies including Producer of the Year.

Bleasdale Vineyards and winemaker Paul Hotker won Multi-Color Corporation Champion Wine of Show with Generations Malbec 2022.

It was a fitting result for Hotker who has just stepped down as senior winemaker.

Bremerton also won Best Cabernet Sauvignon, Best Shiraz, Best Red or White Wine Made from Alternative or Other Varieties and the Chair of Judges Award.

Chair of judges Sue Bell was joined by Dave Brookes and Riley Harrison with associate judges Sam Rowlands, Tyler Follett and Jordan McAnaney.

“The 2021 and 2022 vintages are showing very strong, with a special nod to the Malbec class – a variety that Langhorne Creek can really hang its hat on,” Sue says.

“The balance of poise, fruit and tannin of the Bleasdale 2022 Generations Malbec came out on top, but not without stiff competition.”

About 200 grapegrowers, winemakers, trade, suppliers and winery staff attended the awards lunch in a marquee on the lawns at Bleasdale.
