Seppeltsfield Estate – established in 1851 – has launched a self-guided history experience consisting of ten podcasts that explain the unique history of the famous property.
Visitors can simply scan the QR code on the sign posts at each of the historical locations.
There is a detailed map to guide visitors to each of the podcast locations that form this tour experience, to include the likes of the Seppelt Family Homestead, Centennial Cellar, Winemaker Lawns and Distillery.
The podcast series is available to stream from the Seppeltsfield website, in both English and Mandarin.
Seppeltsfield has evolved into a vibrant community of artisans, with wine, food, art, craft with retail experiences on offer.
“The history of Seppeltsfield Estate is a remarkable story, spanning 174 years,” says managing director Steven Trigg.
“A national treasure and the greatest showpiece of the Barossa – it is fitting that we look to innovative ways to share this story.
“The self-guided history experience allows visitors to do just this, wander the 420 acre estate and immerse yourselves in the historical surroundings while listening to the Seppeltsfield story.”
Seppeltsfield received a Heritage Tourism grant from the Tourism Industry Council of South Australia (TiCSA) to make it happen.
“TiCSA is pleased to have supported this project through our Activating Heritage Tourism grant program, in partnership with the Department for Environment and Water.
“Seppeltsfield is a destination that exemplifies wine tourism on the world stage and is an icon in the historical story of the Barossa,” TiCSA CEO Shaun Du Bruyn says.
“This project enhances the ability for all visitors, not just those interested in wine, to connect with and understand more deeply Seppeltsfield’s unique story.”
The narrators of the podcasts include: Warren Randall, executive chairman and proprietor; Bill Seppelt, fifth generation Seppelt family member; Charlie Seppelt, fifth generation Seppelt family member and senior winemaker; and chief winemaker Fiona Donald.
