Barristers Block at Woodside was hit hard by the catastrophic Cudlee Creek bushfire that ripped through the Adelaide Hills in December 2019.
Its Sauvignon Blanc vineyard was completely wiped out.
Fifty percent was replanted and the other 50 percent completely reworked.
All the hard work was worth it.
Barristers Block 2024 Home Series Sauvignon Blanc won Best Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show lunch last Friday.
Founder Jan Allen said that behind the win was “nothing but hard work” from the family and team.
“When the fire ripped through the vineyard, we knew that we had to get it back,” she says.
“It’s one of our most prized and most popular varietals and we wanted to make sure that this vineyard could be revived and enjoyed for future years to come.
“With the help of our Adelaide Hills community, friends, family and colleagues we were successfully able to do that and we are forever grateful for that support.
“To win this amazing award at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show is very special and it’s a tribute to all those who supported us.”
The award-winning wine is $34 a bottle.
