
Bonnie Purbrick – the matriarch of the Tahbilk family – passed away peacefully over the weekend at the age of 97.
Described as a remarkable woman, Bonnie was the much-loved mother of Alister, Debbie and Mark Purbrick.
“While we are deeply saddened by her passing, we are also incredibly grateful for the extraordinary life she lived,” the family said on Facebook.
“At 97 years of age she was a strong, independent, passionate and inspiring woman whose influence will continue to be felt by all who knew and loved her.
“Bonnie’s life was filled with love, resilience, achievements, challenges, laughter and purpose.
“She embraced life with enthusiasm and determination, leaving behind a legacy that will endure through her family, friends and community.”
Mitchelton Wines said in a tribute, “As matriarch of the Tahbilk family, Bonnie helped shape not just a winery, but the character of an entire region.
“Her influence runs through the vines, the community and the generations that followed her.
“The Mitchelton team holds deep respect for what Bonnie built, and the legacy she leaves behind in this valley we are proud to share.”
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held on Wednesday 24 June at the Nagambie Presbyterian Church.
The burial will take place at the Nagambie Cemetery with a wake at Tahbilk Estate Restaurant.
