Lauren Langfield has been appointed winemaker of Winegrapes Australia, the grower-owned collective of sustainable South Australian family vignerons.

She takes over from Marnie Roberts, who will focus on her own Clare-based brand Matriarch and Rogue.

In her new and expanded role, Lauren will oversee the production of premium South Australian wines curated from the grower base exclusively for their extensive range of clients.

She will also support Winegrapes members to find sustainable end uses for their fruit.

Since completing her viticulture and oenology studies in 2009, New Zealand born Lauren has spent the past 15 years working in vineyards and wineries throughout NZ and Australia.

Her passion and drive have led Lauren to work within a range of wine businesses, most recently Orbis Wines in McLaren Vale.

“I am really looking forward to starting at Winegrapes Australia,” Lauren says.

“Not only because I’ll be working with a range of grape varieties grown across the celebrated grapegrowing regions of South Australia, but because I’ll be joining a strong team there with extensive industry knowledge and experience, and dedication to representing the best interests of grapegrowers.”

Winegrapes Australia general manager Paula Edwards says, “Lauren is a winemaker with a strong viticultural background and exceptional capabilities, and this makes her a perfect fit for the Winegrapes business.

“The sheer number of accolades she has received in her recent career are a testament to that.”

Lauren’s awards include Young Gun of Wine Best New Act in 2022, Young Gun of Wine Winemaker of the Year Award in 2023 and most recently she was a finalist in the 2024 South Australian Woman of the Year awards and one of 12 delegates for The National Farming Federation of Australia DiALP Leadership program in Canberra.

Winegrapes Australia is a grower-owned business dedicated to the sales and marketing of premium South Australian grapes and wine.
