Hellyers Road Distillery in Tasmania has entered into a strategic partnership with DMG Fine Wine, who will represent the Hellyers Road single malt range and whisky cream across mainland Australia.
The partnership will see both companies work closely together to strengthen Hellyers Road’s presence across mainland Australia, deepen engagement with existing and new customers, and create sustainable long-term growth across the Australian drinks market.
Beyond Australia, the partnership also shares a longer-term ambition to introduce the Hellyers Road story and whisky portfolio to a broader international audience, with particular potential across key Asian markets.
DMG Fine Wine has owned Tasmanian sparkling icon House of Arras since 2023.
It currently offers premium spirits through its DMG Organic branch and leading Chinese baijiu brand, Moutai.
The addition of a Tasmanian single malt of the Hellyers Road calibre further strengthens its position in this space, offering a quintessential product for customers across the on- and off-premise space.
Hellyers Road CEO Derek Charge said, “Hellyers Road reflects almost three decades of patience, care and conviction in making fine whisky in Tasmania.
“Choosing who represents that work deserves the same careful consideration.
“We took time to get to know DMG Fine Wine.
“As owners and producers of exceptional wines themselves, they understand what goes into making something of lasting quality.
“Their uncompromising approach to their own products, and to those they represent, made them a natural choice for Hellyers Road.
“That shared understanding gives us confidence as we bring our whiskies to more retailers and hospitality businesses across mainland Australia, represented by people who understand where they come from, how they are made and what makes them worth seeking out.”
DMG Fine Wine owner William Dong said, “Hellyers Road is one of those rare Australian brands with genuine history, provenance and substance behind it.
“What began with a group of dairy farming families in North West Tasmania has developed over almost three decades into a whisky producer with an extraordinary depth of aged stock and international recognition.
“For DMG, this is about more than adding another whisky to our portfolio.
“As part of our continued effort to champion Brand Tasmania, we see Hellyers Road as a perfect example of the quality, authenticity and craftsmanship the state is capable of producing.
“We’re extremely proud to have been entrusted with exclusive distribution across mainland Australia.
“We believe Hellyers Road has significant potential, and our focus is to build its presence in a considered and sustainable way across hospitality, retail and the broader drinks trade.
“We also want to introduce its story and whiskies to more whisky lovers around the world, particularly in Asia.
“We’re excited to build that journey together over the long term.”
DMG Fine Wine will represent the entire Hellyers Road core range, selected aged and rare single malts and their its Whisky Cream.
Hellyers Road Distillery was established in 1997 in Burnie by a successful Tasmanian dairy cooperative, itself founded in 1957 by a group of dairy farming families in remote North West Tasmania.
To this day Hellyers Road’s finest aged whisky is distilled and aged at that same distillery in Burnie, making Hellyers Road distillery the Oldest Operating Whisky Distillery in Australia.
