UK wine writer Jancis Robinson has sold her subscription-based wine website to Recurrent Ventures.

“I can assure you that we will all (four full timers and 13 more part timers including seven MWs) remain in place and I will have more time to do what I love: tasting and writing about wine,” Jancis said on Twitter.

“No more admin!!! Much better tech!!!”

Recurrent Ventures CEO Lance Johnson told Digiday, “Subscription, in time, I think will be one of our largest revenue streams, even if we’re just beginning.

“[Robinson] is something we can build around.”

Recurrent say they plan to grow the Jancis Robinson website subscriber base in the US.

The company owns a raft of media brands including the Saveur online food and wine magazine which is expected to play a role in the growth of the Robinson site.

“There’s a lot of synergies there,” Johnson told Digiday.

The Jancis Robinson writing panel includes Australian correspondent Max Allen.

Digiday says Robinson’s site is the fourth site Recurrent has acquired in 2021.

The sale price has not been disclosed.

Jancis Robinson also writes for the Financial Times and provides advice for the wine cellar of Queen Elizabeth II.
