Watershed moment for Margaret River winery

By Tuesday 5 May 2026No Comments

After being shelved for eight years, the Watershed wine brand from Margaret River has returned to the market under the new ownership of Calneggia Family Vineyards.

“The move signals a considered revival rather than a reinvention,” Jack Calneggia says.

The winemaking is led by Watershed’s original winemaker, Severine Logan, and fruit sourced from a number of original Watershed growers.

“The intention is not to recreate what was, but to build something that feels relevant now, while respecting the foundations that made Watershed recognisable,” says Jack.

The Watershed name was previously held by the family-owned Heytesbury Wine Group – owner of Vasse Felix – which acquired the Wallcliffe vineyard and vinery assets when Watershed ceased operations in 2018.

No wines have been released under the Watershed label since then.

The first Watershed releases include a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wines are available exclusively from the winery’s long-term trading partner Get Wines Direct.

Calneggia Family Vineyards own premium vineyards producing brands like Rosabrook, Pas Touche’, Bunkers, Bramble Lane, Flinders Bay and Barking Tree.

They import Italian wines under the Calneggia label with a focus on sustainable, elegant and affordable wines.

Watershed Wines was established by Geoff Garrett in 1999.
