The Fogarty and Hall families have bought Tasmanian sparkling wine house Clover Hill and sister winery Taltarni from the Goelet family.

The Fogarty and Hall families have a company called Tasmania East Coast Vineyards Pty Ltd.

Peter Fogarty is founder of the family-controlled Fogarty Wine Group.

Anthony Hall owns significant seafood interests across Australia and Tasmania and wine assets in Tasmania among other businesses.

Fogarty Wine Group holds significant wine interests in six Australian wine regions, including Tasmania and Victoria’s Pyrenees – the respective homes of Clover Hill and Taltarni.

Over the past 28 years, Peter Fogarty and his family have steadily built a strong portfolio of wine businesses, now comprising nine unique Australian wine brands.

The Fogarty family has long collaborated with the Goelet family with Taltarni as a production partner to Dalwhinnie, a luxury winery that neighbours Taltarni.

When the opportunity arose to become the next stewards of Clover Hill and Taltarni, and realise the potential of growing sparkling wine in the Pyrenees and Tasmania, Peter, Anthony and their families couldn’t resist.

“With a high-performing team in place and excellent winegrowing capabilities, specifically in sparkling wine production, we saw the great opportunity to steward and grow the Taltarni and Clover Hill businesses to their full potential,” Peter says.

From one family business to another, the legacy of Clover Hill and Taltarni will continue under the guidance of Peter and his family.

Outgoing CEO Michael Kluczko is thrilled to see the two brands “shepherded” by a family group so committed to the success of the Australian wine industry.

“Passing the torch on to another family-owned wine business is a real win for us,” says Michael.

“We are confident that the brands and the teams at Taltarni and Clover Hill will be nurtured and cared for in a way that maintains the legacy we have all worked so hard to build, and honour the vision that John Goelet had over fifty years ago.”

All Taltarni and Clover Hill staff will continue in their respective roles and teams at Taltarni and Clover Hill and will work closely with Dalwhinnie and Tasmanian Vintners, and the broader Fogarty Wine Group.

The Goelet family from America – which founded Clos du Val in the Napa Valley – bought Taltarni in 1972.

They established Clover Hill in 1986.

Monopole Group, led by Adam Morris, served as broker and financial advisor to the Goelet family.
