Australian Grape & Wine (AGW) has appointed Mark Harvey-Sutton as its new chief executive officer, bringing extensive experience in industry leadership, agricultural trade and national advocacy.
Mr Harvey-Sutton has served as CEO of the Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council since 2019, representing Australian exporters on international trade, market access and regulatory matters.
He previously held senior roles with the National Farmers’ Federation, other agricultural organisations and the Australian Government.
AGW Board chair Helen Strachan welcomed the appointment, saying Mr Harvey-Sutton’s experience would bring a fresh perspective to the organisation.
“Mark brings an impressive combination of industry leadership, policy expertise and experience representing Australian agricultural exporters at the highest levels of government,” Ms Strachan said.
“His understanding of international trade and market access will be particularly valuable as we look to build new opportunities for Australian wine at home and abroad.
“Mark’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for AGW.
“We look forward to strengthening our engagement with members, building industry collaboration and ensuring AGW remains a strong, effective voice for Australian grape growers and winemakers.”
Mr Harvey-Sutton said he was excited to take on the role and looked forward to working with members and stakeholders across the industry.
“Australia’s grape and wine industry has an outstanding international reputation and makes an enormous contribution to our economy and regional communities,” Mr Harvey-Sutton said.
“There are significant opportunities to build on the industry’s strengths and position Australian grape growers and winemakers for the future.
“I’m looking forward to getting out into the regions, listening to members and working collaboratively to ensure AGW delivers strong advocacy and practical outcomes for the businesses it represents.”
Mr Harvey-Sutton will commence as CEO on 13 January 2027.
