Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards and Mike Press Wines have bought the Gemtree winery in McLaren Vale.
The new contracting wine processing business will be known as Oliver & Press Winemakers.
Melissa and Mike Brown have retained the Gemtree Wines brand, vineyards and tasting room.
Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards and Mike Press Wines have both been working with the Gemtree cellar team to make their wines as contract processing customers for many years.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Mike Press Wines in this exciting endeavor,” says Corrina Wright, winemaker and director at Olivers Taranga Vineyards.
“We look forward to the future and the endless possibilities that this collaboration brings.”
Mike Press says, “Teaming up with the Oliver family is an incredible opportunity and a great move forward for both our brands and the local wine industry.”
The facility is Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certified, Australian Certified Organic and HACCP accredited.
The general manager and winemaker is Josh Waechter.
“We are looking forward to continuing the relationships with current customers and forging more into the future,” Corrina says.
Mike Brown says, “After ten years in the contract processing business, it is time to hang up the boots.
“We are pleased to hand over the facility to two of our respected clients in Oliver’s Taranga and Mike Press and wish them every success as they take the facility and team into its next chapter.”
Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards has a rich history spanning more than 180 years.
Mike Press Wines, owned by Bob and Yuko Harris and Mike and Judy Press, is a boutique wine brand with vineyards in the Adelaide Hills.
Established in 1998, Mike Press Wines has gained a reputation for producing outstanding cool-climate wines that highlight the elegance and purity of the fruit at an incredible price point.
